The AI Lab.

INTRODUCING OUR LATEST COLLABORATION WITH PROFESSORS OLIVER HAUSER AT THE UNIVERSTIY OF EXETER, HYUNJIN KIM AT INSEAD & ANIL DOSHI AT UNIVERSITY COLLEGE LONDON.

AI has become inescapable in the workplace and has been adopted in most organisations. According to McKinsey’s 2024 global survey, the adoption of AI has spiked from 50 to 72% in the last year, after many years of staying around the same number. Not only this, in most organisations AI has been adopted in nearly all business areas (McKinsey, 2024). This has, and will continue to, transformed the way we work. AI can bring much progress, but it is not without its behavioural challenges. Research has shown that the vast majority of the issues surrounding scaling AI in organisations are people-related, rather than technical ones. That is why MoreThanNow is introducing the AI Lab, to ensure AI is introduced and deployed in a way that is beneficial and effective for all employees.

Together with our academic partners we will use behavioural science to approach the challenges surrounding AI, and are now looking for organisational partners to join this collaboration.

research themes

Some of our initial research will focus on the following themes:

Impact evaluation

  • There are hundreds of AI tools being released in the workplace; how do organisations evaluate which to prioritise and which might cause more harm than good?

Adoption

  • How do we encourage employees to adopt AI-tools in their day-to-day work?

Optimisation

  • As new ways of working are adopted, we must take the opportunity to learn about human advancement through AI and adapt to our inevitable mistakes and successes.

“We need to put AI tools to the test. Making sure that they improve working lives rather than add an extra layer of complexity will be essential to create the future of work beneficial for all of us.”

MoreThanNow is working together with the following academics from the university of Exeter, INSEAD and University College of London to research AI in the workplace:

Oliver Hauser is a Professor of Economics and the Deputy Director of the Institute for Data Science & Artificial Intelligence at the University of Exeter. He is also a Faculty Affiliate at Harvard University and works as a Senior Advisor in the Evaluation Task Force at the UK Cabinet Office.

Hyunjin Kim is an Assistant Professor of Strategy at INSEAD. Her research focuses on how firms can manage data and algorithms to enhance strategic decision-making, earning recognition in esteemed publications such as Harvard Business Review and The Wall Street Journal.

Anil Doshi is an Assistant Professor of Strategy and Entrepreneurship at the UCL School of Management, exploring how digital platforms and generative AI shape organizational strategies. His research includes studying the spread of false information and its impact on firms, with insights featured in Organization Science.

AI is a great opportunity and hallmark of human progress, but organisations need to be intentional and evidence-based in the way they introduce and leverage this for their employees. Join us in finding out the best ways to do so!
